Freezin’ for a Reason!
Access Storage supports the 2024 Special Olympics Polar Plunge
December 18, 2023
Canadians embrace winter.
We don’t let a little snow or cold get in our way. Rather, we get outside and we embrace all that the season has to offer. We ski, snowboard, snowmobile, snowshoe, ride fat bikes into the woods, go ice fishing, swim and…wait, what!?
That’s right. When it comes to taking part in the Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics, we swim in the winter. The annual event, which Access Storage is a proud supporter of, is for the benefit of the about 23,000 special Olympic athletes across Ontario
Access Storage believes in the importance of supporting the Special Olympics as it gives community and purpose to the thousands of athletes who take part each year. It is truly an inspiration to watch these athletes test the limits of their sport, all with a smile on their faces.
The Polar Plunge is easy to take part in. You simply find an event near you and pledge to take a dip in the water during it. Then you raise much-needed money for the Special Olympics.
That fundraising is vital for the Special Olympics as it allows them to do more of the great work that they are already doing. Much of the money raised goes to support their Hometown Games program, which benefits athletes at the local level. The Hometown Games are an inclusive, fun-filled event that takes part in communities across the country. With your support, the hope is that there can be even more Hometown Games, in even more locations, in the future.
That’s worth getting a little chilly for, right? Sure, it’s cold, but you will be #FreezinForAReason when you take part in the events, which are supported by hundreds of volunteers and community members there to cheer you on. Importantly, the Polar Plunge events are also fully supervised to keep everyone safe.
